Remember that Antibiotic

This pin has someone putting a timeline on the side of the medicine bottle with a sharpie, that way you can mark off when you have given the medication.
This person is genius, why have I never thought of this.  Of all the antibiotics I have given the kids and something like this did not occur to me !! I did this with our last round of antibiotics, this time for strep throat, and it was a life saver.  I was able to see when I gave the antibiotic and if I had missed one and needed to make it up.  Thank you to the smart person who came up with this, this is why I love Pinterest.

Sunburn Remedy

If you can believe it I just got sunburned like this poor person and the whole time I kept thinking, "Oh well, at least I can test that pin now." We spent the afternoon in the pool and in the hot sun and my back and shoulders got so fried. I instantly tried out this remedy and although in the picture, her burn is gone the next day, mine has stayed with me for a week now.  And yesterday I woke up to blisters all over my back so I have to say that this remedy definitely did not work.  I was just as burned the next day and it did not keep it from peeling or blistering, like it says. In this remedy you use earl grey tea bags that have been seeped and then rub it on your burn.  I guess it may depend on how burned you are but I definitely was at least as burned as this person and probably almost the same.  I will save you from a picture of my nasty burn.

DIY Antibiotic Ointment Packets

What a handy little idea, right??  I thought so too until I attempted to put them together.  My first thought before I put them together was that you would have to have some sort of opener with you as well, scissors or something like that because I am not sure I could open these with my teeth and risk the ointment getting in my mouth.  You could probably squeeze the straw until it opened but that poses a possible mess as well.  Which is why the packets you buy are so convenient.  For the life of me I could not get my straws to burn closed and each time I thought they were closed I would put the ointment in and it would shoot out the other side.  It was a little frustrating, after so many tries I gave up.  After all if I buy the ones at the store they still last me a long time because in all honesty my kids do not get hurt bad enough that often to even warrant the ointment.

Homemade Ice Pack

What a great idea!!! All you do is take Dawn soap or any dish soap and put it in two sealed bags and freeze.  The cool thing about this is that it never freezes solid so you can adjust it to your body better than the blocks that you can buy.  The other cool thing is that you can make them in different colors so that it is cool for your kids and they will want to use them.  The only downside is that it is just in a plastic baggy but double bagging it helps a lot so that it will not leak.  The other downside is that they are small but you could make bigger ones with big ziplocs for backs or tummies.  They are so easy to make and take no time at all.
