We moved into a new place and there was a little bit of mold on the caulk. I tried several different things until I saw this pin. This worked awesome!! I did not use the cotton coil because mine was just in a few small spots. I used small cotton squares and doused them with bleach cleaner and then left them for 24 hours. When they were done, I moved them and the mold was gone!! What a great solution and much better than having to remove all of the old caulk and replace it with new caulk. Next time you have mold on your caulk, try this method out. It worked great!!

Directions: If you have a lot of mold like the picture, go to the beauty store and buy a cotton coil, soak it in bleach and place around caulk on tub, let sit for 24 hours and then remove. If just spots then just soak small cotton squares in bleach and leave for 24 hours.

ReplyDeleteJust a heads up, bleach doesn't KILL the mold...just removes the staining.
ReplyDeleteI've also used the bleach gel that's in my toilet bowl cleaner. The gel helps keep it in place and the bleach does what bleach does - makes it white and kills the ick. Chlorine bleach DOES kill mold if it comes in contact with it on non-porous surfaces such as glass, tile, bathtubs, and most counter tops. It won't kill it if it's porous like wood or drywall as it can't penetrate into them.
