DIY Slime and SIlly Putty

I am putting these two together because they are the exact same recipe. I have tried slime recipes before that have worked but I could not get this one to work at all.  Despite kneading it and stirring it forever it never came to the right consistancy.  You can see in the picture that it was stringy and crumbly.  It never became one solid piece like it should have.  I will be sticking to my other slime recipe for the future.

Phone in a Glass

They say if you put your smartphone in a glass that it will amplify the sound. This pin works but the sound does come out a little distorted but not too much that it would bother you.  My favorite thing to use is my speakers but if I am in a pinch and want my music louder this is a good way to get that effect. Be sure that it is a glass cup and not anything else.

Homemade Carmel

These carmel's were really easy and quick to make and they even tasted yummy BUT they were stuck in the pan and to one another.  They were impossible to get out of the pan and to try and get them into some sort of wrapper would have been a joke.  So, to me, no matter how good something is or how easy it is, if you cannot use it then it is worthless.

Remember that Antibiotic

This pin has someone putting a timeline on the side of the medicine bottle with a sharpie, that way you can mark off when you have given the medication.
This person is genius, why have I never thought of this.  Of all the antibiotics I have given the kids and something like this did not occur to me !! I did this with our last round of antibiotics, this time for strep throat, and it was a life saver.  I was able to see when I gave the antibiotic and if I had missed one and needed to make it up.  Thank you to the smart person who came up with this, this is why I love Pinterest.

Using Sharpies on Dishes

I thought it would be fun to put little messages at the bottom of my kids cereal bowl.  I have always only used glass paint so I was glad to see this pin.  It made it easy to write something on the dishes.  This did not work, the writing came off after about two washes and that was it.  So, I guess it is better to just stick with glass paint if you want it to stick and stay.

Mod Podge Paper onto Plates

This is such a cute idea and I could think of all of the party and holiday plates you could make with this method.  The best is that you can get these clear plates at the dollar store or you can get them really cheap at IKEA.  The paper is really cheap as well.  These would be fun to do for a birthday party, Halloween, Christmas, or as a gift for someone.  The only thing you have to be careful of is, making sure these do not get water on them, once the water gets on the paper it will ruin it.  These have to be spot cleaned with a paper towel so they do not get ruined.  Other than that, these were easy, quick, cheap and fun to put together.

DIY Caramel Apple Suckers

These were just like making the jolly ranchers suckers just adding caramel.  They tasted really good and were really easy to make.  The caramel takes a little while to harden but other than that they were really easy to make.

DIY Dishwasher Cleaner

Whenever we move into a new place, that has been lived in before, I like to do a lot of deep cleaning.  This worked really well on the dishwasher, it made it so sparkly clean and it was so easy to do.  The only thing I did not like was having to run to completely empty, complete cycles but it was worth it for how clean the dishwasher came out.  This was such an easy, quick and cheap method.

Pumpkin Pie French Toast

All I can say is, YUM!!! This was so, so good and the whole family loved this.  Perfect for fall time or anytime and it was so good.  We loved everything about this and it was really easy to make.  The only thing I had a hard time with was making sure it was cooked all the way through.  Because the pumpkin always looks the same it was hard to see if it was cooked or not. Also the top layer of pumpkin seemed to burn off of the toast.  Other than that, this was awesome.  It tasted so good and will definitely be added to our menu in our home.

Using WD-40 to get rid of Tar Stains on your Car

This did work but I was not a fan.  You really, really have to scrub, it gets all over your hands and it stinks to high heaven.  If you are really desperate to get those tar marks off this will work for you.  Just be sure to have a good scrubbing tool, wear gloves and be in open air so that the smell is not so bad.  If you do that, you will be happy with the results.

Renewing you Markers

I tried this method out and it did not make any differences it actually made the markers worse than they were before I tried this.  Too bad it did not work because my kids always leave tops off of markers and then they do not work anymore.  Excuse the picture, I did have them standing straight up like the picture but I forgot to get the picture then.

Crayons in the hot glue gun

I tried this in two different size glue guns, my small one and my large one, and neither one of them worked for this method.  The crayon would not push through the glue gun which meant I could not get either one of them to work.  So I had no luck getting this to work like the one above in any way.

Butter Beer

My kids love Harry Potter and anything to do with Harry Potter so when we found this recipe for butter beer on Pinterest we had to try it.  I have to say that the rum extract in this recipe was WAY to much for my kids and their friends.  It is a flavor that not everyone likes and is a very strong flavor.  It was not hard to make but the taste left something to be desired for the kids.  If your kids like rum flavor than this is a fun recipe but if not then this is not the one for you.

Shaving Cream Bath Paints

Some of you may have seen this on The Daily Dish but I wanted to post it on here as well.  This is a great paint for the kids to use in the bathtub.  It is so easy to put together and cheap.  All you need is a can of shaving cream, I got mine at the dollar store for 1 dollar, and some food coloring.  I keep mine in a small, round Tupperware with lids so they do not dry out.  Put in your shaving cream and add a few drops of food coloring, mix all the food coloring in and that's it.  Give your kids some paint brushes and let them go to town.   I have to say that I tried all of the paints out there with corn starch and soap and they DO NOT work but this one is a pins up all of the way.  The best part is that it just washes away with the next shower!

DIY Drum Shade

I want to make these to match all of the rooms in my house.  They are really simple to put together and end up looking so cute.  I am so sorry my picture is so dark but that is the one I made for my girls room.  The thing that takes the most time is getting them hung but even that is not to bad.  I love all of the possibilities that can happen with these and how cute they can look in your house.

Glitter on your keys

These are so fun and a great way to add some "bling" to your keys.  You could also do different colors to differentiate between different keys.  SO easy to make, some glue, glitter and nail lacquer.  I have had mine glittered for a few weeks and some of the glitter has come off but it is so easy to put it on that I can just repair it.  You really can glitter everything!

Makeup Sponge for Striped Nails

This idea works but you have to make sure you have thick nail polish and not the see through kind.  If you do not use thick nail polish this will not work.  I also thought I could just eye the sponge without cutting it but that did not work so make sure you take the time to cut the sponge to the size of your nail. As you can see the pink only showed up on my nails because it was the thick nailpolish.

Baked Marbles

I tried this with five different types of marbles but no matter what I did they never turned out like these. I love the way they looked and the directions were easy to follow but that still did not make them turn out like they were supposed too.

Removing Deodorant with a Baby Wipe

This does work the reason I do not like it is that it leaves little white fibers on your clothing after you wipe it off.  A wet washcloth works just as well and does not leave any fibers on your clothing.

Fabric Bandaids

I love that someone was so creative that they thought of accesorising your bandaids with what you are wearing.  These are so easy to do and super cheap, if you have left over strips of fabric.  They turn out so cute and are fun to wear.  They do not stand up well to water but neither do most bandaids.  Fun and cute project.

Painting Swimsuits on Barbie Dolls

This is another idea that when I say it, I thought, why have I not thought of that before?  We have a whole bin of Barbies and they always end up naked with no clothes on.  This post suggests you use nail polish which I did do on the first Barbie but not only did it take forever, with that little brush, it smelled really bad.  So I tried to just paint a swimsuit on the Barbie with acrylic paint.  That worked just as well and it dried faster and did not smell.  Now all of our Barbies are not naked anymore.

Carmel Apple Bites

I think this is a great idea but is not quite as easy to put them together and have them look cute.  Maybe my apples were not big enough but I could not get good ball sizes from the melon baller, mine all turned out to be half balls.  I think to get it to look like the above picture you would have to use a lot of apples and waste a lot of the apple.  I think doing slices would be smarter and just as cute.  As you can see mine do not look anywhere as round and cute as the one in the above picture, mine are very flat and not nearly as cute.  I think I will stick to whole apples or slices in the future.
